Studies have proven that childhood is the best time to shape a mind. Elementary school is an ideal time to start promoting useful skills that children can take with them through the rest of their lives. Having tables rather than desks in our classroom will be used to promote collaboration and group work among students; giving them the opportunity to interact with their peers and promote leadership responsibilities. Swapping out our old desks with tables also frees up space to implement other learning strategies. For instance, more room means a chance for students to take "brain breaks" where they get out of their seats and stretch between lessons.
