A Rube Goldberg machine is a machine intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overcomplicated fashion. Often, these machines consist of a series of simple devices that are linked together to produce a domino effect, (cause and effect) in which each device triggers the next one, and the original goal is achieved only after many steps. The Waterway Pipes will allow students to use fine motor skills and motor planning to engineer a type of Rube Goldberg Machine. Waterway Pipes will let small fingers become BIG ENGINEERS! They will use the the parts to create a way to pour water in a cup, wash their hands, or water a plant, as a few examples.
