The materials I have requested will put the finishing touch on our class reading room. Before summer break I surveyed students on books and magazines and other materials they would like to read in an effort to increase their reading fluency, vocabulary, and communication skills. Needless to say, I have been purchasing each book and magazine throughout the summer to create “Reading 2.0”. The flexible seating items like the futon and bean bags will allow students to collaborate more while reading, completing homework, or working on class projects. When a student has a choice in seating it makes them more comfortable which allows them to be focused.
