My students live in a small community in Utah. They know about subdivisions and farming, but are eager to learn more about the world. They love science and social studies and thrive on delving into non-fiction books. They enjoy studying maps, globes, and love Back Yard Safari videos. Our school classroom sizes are large and we always use our one bus field trip to go someplace with live animals or activities that help us learn about the community or our world. Some students read very well but others struggle. It is often difficult to find up to date reading material that is on their reading level, especially science and social studies materials.
