My project with help students connect their thinking to visuals. This connection makes abstract thinking become more concrete. Research done by Jo Boaler at Stanford University supports this project. Linking pop cubes come in sets of 10 made up by 10 cubes. This will support their number sense development as well as their geometric development. Students will have a tangible, visual model of numbers they are working with. These cubes will also support working with geometry subtopics such as surface area and volume. Funding for school supplies is limited, so having math manipulatives for individual students is next to impossible. My students need manipulatives in order to progress in their mathematical development.
