Reading matters! My classroom library is a place where students get excited to use their imagination and practice their reading skills during the independent reading time. Additionally, I read aloud a part of a chapter book at 5th-grade level for about 30 minutes a day. This way, students have a model for fluency, rhapsody, and an overall joy for reading. As an English language learner, books are very important to my students and are imperative when developing language skills. The books in my library are always treated with love and care, and every student in my classroom is thankful for the opportunities to read in class. Many of my students come from low income households and often times do not have space and means to comfortably read at home. Having an abundant and diverse classroom library will enhance my students' vocabulary, reading level, and content knowledge. Moreover, not only will students have new books to read, but they will also realize how much information they have access to. My ultimate goal is to inspire students to love to read and yearn for knowledge.
