Research has shown that allowing students to have a choice of how they learn best is a wonderful way to help increase student success. My Title One campus only provides desks with standard seating in hard plastic chairs. These chairs are often uncomfortable and make it especially difficult for my students with obvious learning challenges. I would love to watch my students flourish in a classroom where there are options of how they learn best, whether that be on a yoga ball or on a stool that is designed to allow movement without disrupting others. I've heard of other teachers having success through DonorsChoose.org, and I am so excited about the possibility of offering flexible seating to my students. I am moving from teaching a Kindergarten class to a fourth grade class. I would love to tell my students all about the people out there who care about their education even though they haven't ever met them.
