Using a high-interest novel to teach grade level reading skills is much more exciting than using a basal reader! Students will be able to make cultural and personal connections to the characters in Esperanza Rising while gaining confidence in their reading fluency and vocabulary skills. After reading the novel in class, students will be completing various individual and group projects relating to the novel. Using novels in class, cultivates a love for reading that students can carry with them as they venture into their academic careers and throughout adulthood. We are ready to dive into reading, we just need the books!

About my class
