Right now, if my students would walk into the Resource Room, they would be greeted by lots of desks and chairs. There is little to no variety! No excitement! What we need is to move! I'm looking for "flexible" seating options, which means I'd like to provide my students with voices of how and where they sit, and to keep them engaged while they're seated! Balance balls are chairs that won't sit still, giving students a chance to wiggle while they work and engage physically, even when seated; wobble cushions allow for the same freedom for wiggling, and also let the students mix up where and how they work -rolling their "chair" around the class or getting down onto the floor on their wobble cushion, or using that cushion to turn one of our boring old chairs into a more exciting place to sit are great options for my students who get fidgety. There are plenty of studies that show that even a little room to move helps students stay focused on their work; I want to let them wobble their way to more learning! But even then, our classroom still doesn't offer any options for comfort! I want to offer them just as many flexible seating options that provide them comfort and even some relieve that some of my learners crave when faced with challenging learning opportunities. Which is why you'll see Reading Pillows, Blankets, as well as lap animals! Your donation will help create a more flexible environment for ALL of my learners!
