Having books at home that my scholars are interested in reading would foster the love of reading, which can be extremely challenging when you are reading books that are outdated or not of interest. This task can also be more difficult when independent reading is done at home. Giving students an opportunity to read books that spark their interest would be more engaging and less daunting for them. Being able to offer my students reading materials that they can relate to, or connect their prior background knowledge would be extremely beneficial. Reading is imperative and has to be a skill my students acquire for success.
