Childhood obesity and the ailments caused by this disease is an ongoing issue in African-American and Latinx communities. I want to teach my first grade class that it is possible to take great care of your bodies while indulging in great tasting snacks. According to the Center for Disease Control, caregivers should "limit the sugar-sweetened beverages and saturated fats" their children consume on a daily basis. I believe that an early introduction to healthier foods, can lead to better eating habits later in life. What better way to teach kids about maintaining their health than through their favorite time of day...SNACK TIME!
