I am asking for a class set of the novel "The Breadwinner" for my students and a teacher guide to help me facilitate their discussion as well as to use research-based strategies to improve reading comprehension. I feel that this novel hits important topics such as gender roles found within the Middle East and will challenge students to step out of their comfort zone and challenge American beliefs and ideas about the Middle East. "The Breadwinner" will allow my students to investigate and analyze the topics of gender, politics, family, and traditions found within the Middle East. Through our discussions, they will be able to richly explore and understand these topics as they relate to their studies and their own lives.
