A light table is a staple in a early childhood classroom. It is a tool that heightens any exploration with light sensory input. I will be using the light table in my classroom to encourage students to explore shadows and light, look deeper into letter formation and patterns, and investigate shapes and balance when building. The light table will engage students when exploring literacy, math, and science concepts. As a teacher, I know that every child learns differently. But I also know that children learn best when given opportunities to engage in deep exploration. Whether it is tracing letters in the sand, exploring patterns using translucent pebbles, or experimenting with different shapes and balance, I know that the light table will give all my students a unique and memorable sensory learning experience.
