I am working with young children in an urban community in Iowa. More than 70% of my students come from low income homes. Our school is implementing a literacy model that pushes students to higher levels of comprehension through literature discussion groups. My students have responded with overwhelming enthusiasm and I have seen remarkable growth in their reading skills. The enthusiasm that they display for new learning is so inspiring.
