After hours of studying, listening, and learning, my students are ready for some time to just explore and to make their own choices about what they work on and learn next. Free time is not wasted time. When my students hear that they are going to have some "free time", they get very excited because it gives them a chance for some independent, hands-on learning, where they get to be in control. A fairly new acronym in education is STEM. I would like to give my students, this upcoming new school year, more choices during free time in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. With your help, we will get new science books, building sets, manipulatives to examine and math games to play with their peers. This will allow my students to use critical thinking and to be creative.
