Our school is a Title 1 school, in a low socioeconomic area, and about 90% of our students qualify for free lunch. Most of the students come to school with limited language and vocabulary. They barely talk in complete sentences because their families do not model well those important traits. I teach them and use the language that they need to hear most of the time in their childhood time. However, I feel like I do not have enough time to cover all the conversations in the school time. We have the listening center, and it was my helper because they can listen to the academic language and repeat after it. The students love this center! Unfortunately, it is really old and we still use cassette books!
