My students will be able to understand what feeling they are experiencing and what happened for them to feel this way, and are able to understand that they need a moment to recollect themselves in order to continue to play with their peers. They will also have this area in the classroom for times that they just need a moment to be by themselves and maybe need to talk to an adult. These children learn about many different emotions, beginning with the basic, happy, sad, mad and scared. My students begin to understand these emotions further when it is brought to their attention and to find out why they are feeling that way and what to do when they are experiencing a certain feeling. With having a certain area in the classroom, it will be easier to help the children understand all of the different emotions and their reasoning with adult assistance. With the canopy and tent they will have a certain area they can go specifically in the classroom. They also need a cash register for the dramatic play area in our classroom to pretend shop and play imaginatively.
