Kindergarten is all about learning in fun ways, yet it is also about learning what it means to make good choices in school. Flexible seating allows students to learn how to make appropriate choices to become more successful in the classroom. For some students, a traditional chair works, but for others, a stability ball or alternative option could help them focus and give them the stimulation necessary to fully engage in class. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting on the carpet with clipboards or sitting on crate chairs. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating or if I have the necessary resources to provide them with options. My students are more engaged, get more work completed and love owning their choices and success when provided with flexible seating options! The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to be more engaged and focused, as well as provide them with an opportunity to begin making more effective learning choices.
