There are limited funds available for classroom supplies in the small rural community of Yanceyville, NC. Caswell County focuses on quality teachers, technologies, and curriculum guides for our students first and foremost. Providing classroom supplies is a critical component to ensure daily learning for all students. Working in a Title I School means that every student receives free breakfast and lunch daily. Parents are focused on supporting their families and paying monthly bills, therefore extra money for school supplies is not readily available. Our students complete an interactive notebook for 3 tested subjects and we glue a lot. We also draw anchor charts, collaborate daily using markers (whether permanent or dry erase) to demonstrate and share our knowledge. There are certain basic supplies (like, storage boxes, paper, index cards, and glue) that are necessary to see to this powerful learning take place.
