Students will use their knowledge of human body systems to observe and describe the similiarites in function and the similarities and differences in the structure of nervous, endocrine, reproductive, integumentary, muscular, skeletal, circulatory, respiratory, excretory, digestive, and immune systems in frogs. The students will be guided step-by-step through the dissection experience by the teacher modeling the dissection under a document camera. Some interesting structural differences between humans and frogs include tongue, teeth, reproduction organs, cloaca, thumb pad (male frogs), webbed feet, membranes covering eyes and ears, and the contents of their stomach. Usually students find crickets or beetles in the stomachs. Last year a frog had a crawfish inside its stomach! This will be a memorable experience for our diverse group of students.
