Before students return to the classroom, I want to share with them stories where they can see their lives, culture, and lived experiences. I want them to make connections between cultures, and dream about possibilities. I can share these experiences from these books through interactive read aloud and modeling through Zoom. When students return, our classroom will have limited space because of the necessity for rows and distance. Students will need copies of books they can hold onto. We need bookshelves that will fit under whiteboards and in unconventional places. I have utilized a successful classroom library program in the past, and I know how to encourage students to read. I want them to experience the value and power of reading about their own culture and experiences while also having opportunities to explore the perspectives of others.
