Our school has a dedicated room for students to cool down and get refocused for learning. iPads and mindfulness apps will be used by students throughout the year. Our students come from high poverty, high trauma homes and deal with the stress of academic and social pressure each day. They need the opportunity to learn techniques to manage their stress and improve their ability to focus and engage at school. Mindfulness tools will help our students lead a better and more productive life. By having access to mindfulness tools, our struggling students will begin to build social and emotional skills to help them navigate social, academic, and work-life environments, which will help them be happy, productive citizens. Mindfulness in education can be the key to bring social and educational success for students in any environment. Our students need mindfulness instruction and practice to improve their lives.
