My project would include setting up a Lending Library in my classroom. Students will have a daily opportunity to pick a book from the lending library that piques their interest to take home and read with a parent. This will promote the love for reading and parental involvement. Students will become better readers and the more books they read, it will strengthen their reading accuracy, fluency, comprehension and sight word recognition skills. Parents will have an opportunity to spend time with their children and read, which will support early literacy skills and most importantly, family time. Most children struggle with reading skills and starting a lending library at an early age will show children that reading can be enjoyable!
