I teach over 400 students at Stevenson Middle School. Almost all of my students are labeled economically disadvantaged and receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students don't have access to books at home and struggle with literacy comprehension. I know owning their own books would mean so much to them and motivate them to read and discuss their thoughts about their books with their classmates, furthering their understanding. 95% of my students are Hispanic/Latinx and would benefit from having the coming of age stories found in the books I have requested. They are bright students and would love the opportunity to share their knowledge through literature.
