My students missed key parts of 2nd and 3rd grade due to Covid. I am teaching basic phonics lessons in a program with word cards and syllables to sound out. The phonics books in this project will support the skills that they are learning. This project will also provide an alternative seating area in the classroom with the bean bags where they can read. I also included shelving to hold student Chromebooks and iPads in this area of the classroom. The emphasis on social emotional learning will help them make better friendships and function better at school. I have homeless students and children with severe anxiety. I included sensory items in this project to use as rewards and for the sensory area in the classroom. This is an area where students may go spend a few minutes thinking when needed. Having a space like this in a classroom helps to prevent behavior problems. All of these items will help them to be successful in the classroom. These students also love to be outside and need playground equipment for outdoor activities. This project includes jump ropes and 4-square balls and a basket ball. Finally, this project includes some basic school supplies and art supplies that will be used by all students in the classroom.
