Bouncy bands were created by Scott Ertl, a school counselor. They attach to student desks so kids can stretch their legs and bounce their feet while they work quietly at their desk. These bands have been bragged about by teachers for helping ADHD students in their ability to focus. I want my entire class to benefit from Bouncy Bands and stack stools. I believe kinesthetic movement has a direct correlation to memory recall. I feel these bands and stack stools will aide with all other brain based techniques I currently use in my classroom. My students are active second graders that have been naturally programmed to move it, move it. I know that bouncy bands and stack stools will help my students learn and process new knowledge more effectively. Our school focuses on brain based learning. Movement is a large part of helping students retain information. Given the opportunity to bounce while simultaneously learning will increase student retention.
