I will be teaching about 18 3rd graders and I am looking to add flexible seating options for them. Allowing them to choose where they work best and how they work best. I already have a couch, a space for a standing table, and floor space for the student to sit on inflatable chairs. I am adding floor desks for them to use during independent work, wobble cushions for students who need to wobble while they work, and clip boards for students to work on the floor and other places around the room. I have added round stools for the students to sit at regular tables but not have to sit in regular chairs. Exercise balls are another great seating option for bouncy 3rd graders. I have also added a few pillows for my couch to give it an at home feel. Since I am going to have a variety of students in my class, I also added chair bands for students who want to sit in a regular chair but need to wiggle around while they work. I cannot wait to see how much progress they make when given the choice of where to sit. I have also added a few outdoor/playground equipment options for the students including a basketball, kickball, and chalk. I hope to let them run off some of that extra energy. Especially since our recess will be at the end of the day. Here is to a great school year!
