Flexible seating allows my students to make choices. Just like adults, kids too, have preferences in how they like to sit. My 20 kiddos are full of energy and have active bodies. While they may be moving around, it does not necessarily mean they are off task. Any given day you will see my students sitting on the floor, standing, tapping, or rocking their bodies WHILE working! Having kick bands, wobble seats, and yoga balls encourages safe body movement AND increases focus. Modern students are no longer required to sit still while completing work or while involved in lessons. In my classroom students have two "rules" for flexible seating; 1. Be safe and 2. Work. Allowing students to move, fidget, and engage their bodies in a safe way while doing work increases their productivity and focus. Thank you for considering our project and for valuing my classroom and active little learners!
