The rug will be used as a gathering place to discuss books, play literacy games, and use the Smart Board for various whole group activities. It creates an area in the room that feels safe, structured, and expands the learning space. The flexible seating supplies encourage a sense of classroom ownership and freedom of choice for the students. These seating options in the classroom also encourage movement that increases oxygen flow to the brain, improving student focus and health. Flexible seating also creates a sense of community in that students are sharing the entire classroom space. Math manipulatives create a hands-on experience that solidifies important concepts. Creating, building, and doing are integral to the learning experience.
