I am asking for six personal, portable CD players, some headphones, and books on CDs. These requested project materials will make a difference in my students learning by providing a variety of books that would interest and inspire them to listen and read along with the books on CD. Books on CD help make stories accessible to students of all different reading levels and stages of reading. Listening to books on CD helps build listening skills while exposing students to complex stories and vocabulary. There is an opportunity for students to listen to a variety of narrators that model fluent reading. Students will be able to read along and/or listen to books on CD. In addition, students will be able to record themselves reading a book. Having this technology will allow me, students and parents to monitor fluency and comprehension while reading various books or texts. The portable CD player will allow students to be flexible in sitting anywhere in the classroom while enjoying listening to a good story.
