I have come across an incredible professional development opportunity for myself. Pam Harris, K-12 mathematics education expert, is offering her online Building Addition for Young Learners workshop. This workshop will allow me to build my mathematical knowledge in an online format which allows flexibility for self-study. I am excited as I have already learned from her through her Developing Mathematical Reasoning and “You Can Change Math Class” Challenge and am certain that this opportunity will be worth it. I would like to sign up for the Building Addition for Young Learners workshop. I see this as a valuable professional development opportunity and would like to request approval for funding. The total cost is $600. The above cost includes access to the online Building Addition for Young Learners workshop; and continual implementation support for an entire year through the online platform called Journey. The journey has added benefits as I will receive monthly support from Pam Harris in forums where I can ask questions, learn from other teachers, and gain invaluable advice from her. The platform delivers content each week which will enable me to continue my professional development throughout the year. It also allows me to have access to my workshop for the whole year and Pam’s free Developing Mathematical Reasoning workshop. The value of this professional development outweighs any other mathematics professional development that I have come across and can therefore assure you that it will be a worthy investment.
