A great way to encourage critical thinking skills is through STEM activities. Our school offers few STEM activities. Students could engage in robot building activities and visit many of the STEM components through the activities presented with building robots. In this project we will do STEM days where students will be in groups to solve real world problems with their robots. Students will have to learn problem solving skills and improve on their critical thinking skills to build the robot. Students will have to work with the group, building relationships with other group members, to share their ideas and problem solve solutions. Students will even have the ability to compete with their robots. Our National Beta Club offers a robotics competition at the state and national level. Cross curriculum activities will also be an option with these robotics kits.
