The students who are housed and attend school at the alternative education sites come from various backgrounds and already start the day with many challenges set before them. Everyday life can be a struggle for so many of the students. These students are typically at higher risk for not completing high school. A typical class setting consist of students from grades 6th through 12th. This by itself adds an extra burden to the teachers and students alike. These students are not looking for a handout, but a helping hand to allow them to be competitive with their peers in the typical school setting.
