Research shows that learning happens best when it is done in a way that is practical, relevant, and engaging! In a perfect world, I would have our students traveling all the time soaking in different environments; however with budget restraints that is not possible. Many of my students will never have the opportunity to visit The Great Barrier Reef or The Great Wall of China but with this amazing technology, they can experience it and feel like they are actually there.
This project will help 575 students in grades PreK-5th grade enjoy over 400 virtual traveling experiences without ever leaving the walls of the classroom. These would enrich their knowledge of the world and make every day reading much more meaningful and enjoyable. I plan to coordinate with classroom teachers and help them make the most of their lessons, help them use this technology so students can fully immerse themselves in the content.
By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve geography and historical knowledge, you will help to increase their academic achievement and desire to learn using the latest virtual technology. These ipods and headsets make it possible for students to step into the past and experience Ancient Rome, or to dive into the ocean and swim with fishes and explore coral reefs.
