Many of my students come to my second grade with learning deficits. Students will use the sight word journal to practice building their vocabulary. By increasing their word knowledge, they can become fluent readers. The book collections will afford students the opportunity to have quality reading materials within the classroom. Students can learn about their heritage and the individuals who have paved the way for them to have the opportunity to learn. My hope is that students will recognize the struggle and be encouraged and inspired to work hard to become productive citizens.
