Let's face it reading and writing is hard. Traditional methods for teaching reading and writing do not work for all children. There are some students who need a more hands on approach. There are several manipulatives that can make reading and writing easier for these students. Imagine you are in classroom where the teacher asks you to build a robot. This is activity is fun for most students, but it is even more fun for the teacher. Why? You ask. Well while the students are designing their robot they are also creating the background knowledge they need for the writing assignment that is coming next. Manipulates helps bring out a students creativity. When manipulatives are used correctly they enhances a students learning and allow them to have fun as they learn. I would like to be able to provide more hands on activities for my students. Reading and writing is hard, but I believe that manipulative will make it a little easier for my students.
