My students are from a low income inner city in New Jersey. I am a 2nd year teacher, and I try to provide my classes with the most current resources. We are a charter school, and strive on trying to "be the best". Some students struggle greatly with reading, and understand the material. Our classroom libraries are very limited to difficult chapter books and picture books that are very easy. The children enjoy spending time in our "classroom library" and find it relaxing to lay on the rug. They enjoy picking new books everyday that interest them. The students are very appreciative of everything they receive. They enjoy coming to school, and learning new and exciting material. We have school 11 months out of the year, and the only summer break the students get is the month of July. We have just returned to school a week ago, and already facing struggles in the classroom with reading.
