When children feel comfortable and at home, they work better, behave better, and show greater interest in what they are learning about. I would like a class rug where my kids can sit together during language arts then to listen to stories and discuss what we read, play learning games, and use manipulatives with partners or small groups. The rug will help establish a routine for listening time as well as help reduce noise when kids are working with partners or small groups which will in turn allow me to work with small groups or individual students who need additional helph.
