These materials will be used to provide hands-on math exploration and instruction. Students will increase confidence in applying math skills and concepts with these math manipulatives. I am hoping for manipulatives such as mini clocks for telling time and determining elapsed time, base 10 blocks for adding and subtracting, fraction cubes for finding equivalent fractions, dice for math games, and flashcards to practice multiplication facts. These concepts are difficult for 8 year olds to grasp, but providing these materials will allow me to provide effective, active, and engaging lessons in the teaching of mathematics. Using manipulatives can help students connect ideas and integrate their knowledge so that they gain a deeper understanding of math concepts.
