In our classroom, we are passionate about instilling a love for reading in each of our students. Unfortunately, for students with reading difficulties, the options for age appropriate books that they can read on their own decreases as they get older. Many of our kids are embarrassed to read because the books at their reading level are too "babyish" and they are embarrassed to let their peers know that they cannot read the "big books" that their friends are reading. My goal with this project is to build a classroom library with books that our struggling readers can read independently and with dignity. The books I have selected are all books that struggling readers can read independently. If we are ever going to help our students to make improvements in reading, they need access to a variety of books at a variety of reading levels. Please help us make a difference in the lives of our students!
