The purchase of these mini iPads will allow myself and my staff to collect accurate and consistent data. My students require ongoing data throughout the whole day and in each environment in the school. The staff who work with the students need ways to track their data for bathroom use, greetings with others, and behavior. Paper data is difficult to manage and these iPads will allow us to use online data tracking systems so we can have a successful data driven program. This data is crucial to my students success! In this self-contained setting each student needs specific programming to learn to be as independent as possible. Each student has desk work where they work one on one with a staff for discrete trial instruction which means each program or lesson that is run, requires mass trials and fast trails for accuracy. The students need this style of instruction in order to learn new skills and maintain old skills. My students also require intensive behavioral support throughout their day and collecting the data is how we evaluate the behaviors in order to get a better handle on it. Having technology, like the iPad, that enables fast and accurate data will allow us to help the students gain their independence. The ultimate goals for my students is to achieve as much independence in their life. We need the technology to better implement, collect, and assess the needs of our students.
