Right now music class consists of singing with me playing ukulele for the students. They are learning songs as well as basic elements of music, such as note values, tempo, and dynamics. With ukuleles I can expand my lessons to include chords and chord theory, as well as a whole new way to express rhythms with strumming. The students will learn how to accompany themselves in singing, and eventually be able to create their own original songs to share with each other in class and with their families. Ukuleles are a relatively simple instrument to learn and suitable for even very young children. The confidence they will gain through participating in this experience will be priceless.
