Flexible seating allows students the opportunity to take charge of their own learning. It gives students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and helps them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. It allows students to be able to choose a space that they feel will do their best work and learning. I want to foster collaboration and empower kids to think about how they work best. I want to give students the option to trade in their desk chairs for wobble seats and cushions, bouncy bands, or sitting on the carpet with a lap desk, or standing at a high rise desk. This will give them the ability to stay active throughout the day while staying on task while having a variety of options to choose from. With students able to engage both their bodies and their minds at the same time, they will enjoy and foster a love for learning. The best seat will always be the seat that allows my diverse learners the opportunity to succeed!
