A classroom with abundant conversation and collaboration between students and teachers, project-based learning, and technology integration is vital to learning. As students grow, it is imperative that they learn to make good choices. Flexible seating will assist students with this life skill. Students will have the opportunity to choose where they learn best. Students also become more accountable for their learning when they are given choices. I know that flexible seating will increase peer-to-peer collaboration and learning, as well as peer to teacher learning in my classroom. Flexible seating will broaden my students’ choices of where and how they learn. No longer will they only have the choice of sitting at a desk or on the floor, but they can choose to sit on a comfortable floor chair, on an exercise ball, or on a wobble cushion. With your help, they will have a variety of options.
