Please help me to furnish my classroom for the upcoming school year! Many of my students lack access to the basic supplies that they need to be successful throughout the school day, and I want to ensure that when they enter my classroom they have everything that they could need. One large part of this project is furnishing my classroom library with culturally relevant books; books that contain characters that look and sound like my students. Representation is so important for young kids, and I want to give them the opportunity to see their race, ethnicity, and/or gender depicted in a positive manner. Books such as Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Coming of Age in Mississippi, and the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass will be used directly in my history class. Anything that you are able to contribute to this will be deeply appreciated by both myself and my students! Thank You!
