I wish to portray a broader spectrum of racial diversity in my kindergarten classroom library. My school is comprised of a majority of caucasian students with a minority of students with Mexican heritage. I am hoping to share these books as read alouds in my class creating an awareness of various cultures and backgrounds. While my school is not very diverse, I believe it is important, especially in light of our current cultural climate to promote an awareness of the various people who make up our country and our world. It is through education that we can make a difference and promote racial equality for all.
