The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom. I currently have shower boards hanging in my room. These boards are not magnetic and do not clean up very good. By having a magnetic board, I will be able to display magnetic manipulatives such as number lines, fraction bars and the parts of a clock for telling time. Students love to move around the room. These boards will allow students to come up in front of the class and model their strategies for solving problems. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will use the magnetic board to refer to anchor charts I make to display skills we are working on. Often times, these charts are a song or a poem that students can use to remember steps for solving math problems. The magnetic board will make it easy and be a neat place to display work. One thing our leadership team of our school wants for our classrooms is new items to spruce up our rooms. This will be a great start in my classroom!
