My students need materials to access creative, collaborative play and build their social skills within the classroom environment. While my classroom places a strong emphasis on academic success, we are also working toward social and emotional growth and learning. Children learn problem solving and how to work through their life experiences through play. I provide 45-60 minutes a week for students to engage with each other and work together in play stations of their choice. Donations will help my students become well rounded individuals who have skills to work through their personal and social problems. Items needed are Legos, blocks, clay tools, dolls and dolls accessories. My students will use the Legos and blocks to build structures together to strengthen engineering and imagination, as well as cooperation. They will use clay tools to to transform play doh into art and pretend baking. The dolls will expand my "home play" station where students can act out family and home life roles together in a healthy, positive, inclusive environment. I am excited to provide them an opportunity learn to collaborate with others, work though disagreements, and make compromises to achieve goals together.
