We had discussion about what we wanted our WIN class to look like this year. WIN stands for What I Need and students shared how they wanted to be better readers and writers. After watching a video from the move Finding Forester, a conversation was sparked about how to write. We brainstormed some different ways to begin writing. One student shared that because she struggles with reading, she does not always know what she is supposed to write. We decided that we would dedicate this class to improving student's reading and writing skills. Literacy is everything, strengthening their writing and reading skills will help prepare them to be the life long learners we aspire them to be. In addition to the academic skills, this project will also focus on self-awareness. We hope that by focusing on stories of impact our students will learn more about themselves, their character, their ambitions and how they can individually make an impact.
