My students will enjoy reading and writing while sitting in non-traditional seats. They will have an opportunity to complete their work around the classroom with seats that are designed to seat them in a new and exciting way. At my school, my students use book boxes during Reading Workshop and they are given a chance to read around the classroom from these book boxes. These flexible seats, including Glow stools, will provide a new way for them to sit while reading. I plan to set my classroom up so that each student has a chance to use these new seats each week. I used some old beach chairs last year that were almost torn apart and the students loved them. Something so simple seemed to grab their attention. This is why I want to give them many more opportunities to enjoy sitting while reading and working.
